2004 SPEED TRIPLE
More
than just brute metal, the Speed Triple is very much an attitude made real. Its
uncompromising, brutal looks have become something of an icon for those who
prefer their motorcycling to have a raw, rebellious edge.
But don't let the Speed Triple's
striped-down looks fool you. They belie a silken handling package, and a
sophisticated, fuel-injected motor.
The 118bhp, DOHC, liquid-cooled,
three-cylinder engine packs an impressive 100Nm of torque, with the emphasis on
low and mid-range punch. Instant throttle response is assured in any of the
6-gears and is accompanied by the spine-tingling, unmistakable triple-cylinder
howl.
While the engine churns out
massive, instantly accessible performance, the Speed Triple's superb chassis
carves corners in confident style, thanks to a beefy aluminum frame,
single-sided swingarm and fully-adjustable suspension. A sharp steering angle
combines with a short wheelbase for total precision and with identical floating
discs and four-piston calipers to the flagship Daytona 955i, the Speed Triple
possesses phenomenal stopping power.
Without doubt the Speed Triple is
a striking-looking motorcycle and the paintwork options - Jet Black, Roulette
Green or stunning new Tornado Red - add the opportunity to be as overt - or
reserved - as the owner wishes. The range of tailor-made Triumph accessories
available, including color-matched belly pan, fly screen and high level exhaust
(for circuit use only), give scope for personalizing an already personal
motorcycle.
And, as with the Daytona 955i, a
special edition Speed Triple, with black engine, frame, wheels, swingarm and
paintwork, is available for 2004.
